I just joined bloglovin’ and thought it would be fun to share a few of my favorite blogs with you! These are my ‘go-to’ blogs for inspiration, daily. They offer fresh, unique and creative posts which is probably why they are leaders in their various industries! If you see one you like be sure to subscribe so you can stay up to date on their posts, giveaways & events!

1. The Glitter Guide

The Glitter Guide is the best! Full of fashion, beauty, trends, etc. A unique topic they touch on is “Lifestyle”. In their lifestyle category they do “Style at Home” features of some of the most influential and creative woman out there! I am most obsessed with GG’s “5 Things to Try This Weekend” (image above). This weekly feature is perfect for weekenders like myself. I also never miss a “DIY” or “Entertaining” post from GG!

2. Hey Gorg

Hey Gorgeous Events. Need I say more? Hey Gorg is not only the most creative event designer out there but she shares her passion and personality on her pretty blog! What are my favorite posts? EASY! Hey Gorg DIY projects and Hey Gorg Blooms. Both are packed with creativity and color, it is almost impossible not to feel inspired after a blog post from HG. Not the crafty type? Her blog and pinterest activity is enough to brighten any day!

3. Hostess With The Mostess

If you like entertaining and hosting, Hostess With The Mostess is the blog for you! Complete with party themes, coordinating recipes, decor inspiration & free printables – HWTM does not skip a beat when it comes to a party! What I love most are the free printables because they can make any event extra special! HWTM is a keeper!

4. Southern Weddings

Although I always reference Southern Weddings, I couldn’t complete this post without including them! SW is for the wedding lovers out there.. or for the “below the Mason-Dixon obsessed”. SW is the most interactive blog I know of. They stay unique and creative in their content but also engage with their readers daily! Check out their blog for real wedding features, vendor lists, & giveaways. SW is more of a community so if you love social media and pretty inspiration, get connected with Southern Weddings!

5. Camille Styles

Camille Styles is another entertaining and design blog that I love! You have probably seen CS photos all over Pinterest. Her tablescapes are some of my favorite party inspiration! You won’t be surprised when I say that I love CS’s DIY projects and ‘Food & Flowers’ posts the most!

DIY Garden Labels

Happy Earth Day! I did a fun, easy & cheap DIY project today that I can’t wait to share! Andrew and I built our first garden recently and I have been needing garden labels. Why not DIY it? My sister reminded me that it was Earth Day, so it is extra fitting!

Supplies:

Wooden Planks: $1.99 for 4 pieces

Wooden Sticks: $2.47 for 24 pieces

Outdoor Paint: “Wrought Iron Black” About $1.50

Sponge Brushes: $1.29

Chalk Marker: $1.99 (found at TJMaxx)

Hot Glue Gun + Glue Sticks

Using your sponge brush, simply swipe the black paint across the wooden plank! Each piece is unique so don’t worry about perfection!

You could also use chalkboard paint but I chose to use a more permanent “outdoor” paint for longevity!

Then, using your chalk marker (or paint, chalk, etc) write what plant it is that you wish to label.

(wish I had a professional calligrapher handy…)

Use your hot glue gun to pump a good amount of glue onto each wooden plank. Then press a wooden stick down the center of the plank and add pressure for about a minute or until dry.

Yay! Now head to the garden…

HOW easy is that? You could stain your wood or add colored outdoor paint too!

Letterpress Wedding Invitation Suite

In my last post you saw my wedding invitation suite in flat print. Now, I will show you the same, custom invitation suite by Honey Bee Invites using letterpress printing. As a paper lover, I find the two versions of our invitation suite so different! I realize many people wouldn’t bat an eye at the differences. But for most brides, these details become increasingly important while planning a wedding.

Flat Printing Wedding Invitation Suite

Now that you have seen our beautiful and unique save the date’s, I am excited to show you our wedding invitation suite! Honey Bee Invites designed all of our custom stationary for our upcoming Rosemary Beach wedding. I loved every bit of our invitation suite. The square invitation was my favorite touch.

Our lovely stationer was able to send us both flat print and letterpress versions. Letterpress has always been my favorite, but flat print shows the colors we chose so vibrantly! I loved both of the pretty versions for different reasons.

Nautical Save the Date

I am thrilled to begin sharing our wedding stationary with y’all! I knew I wanted the save the date to be clean with no picture. I wanted something different though – that’s where custom stationary became very important to me! All of our wedding stationary has been done by Honey Bee Invites and I couldn’t be more pleased with our products! They are so me (or should I say us?) haha! When you are sending invites all over the country or even sending a large number of invites, I recommend outsourcing for invitations. They will be done the right way and will save the bride so much time!

Weekending Away!

I have been postponing blog posts lately because I have been so busy! So many fabulous things have been going on, one being that I moved! I moved in with Andrew into our new home less than two weeks ago! What a whirlwind it has been. Although we are still living like poor college kids, it is starting to feel like home. We also had Easter with Andrew’s family and a surprise 80th birthday party for his Granny, a lawn & garden shower in Ocean Springs, MS and one of our best friends’ wedding in Fairhope, AL!

Bachelorette Party Details

I just got back from two amazing days with some of my closest friends. They are the type of friends that will say absolutely anything, whether it be inappropriate, heavy, or completely ridiculous, it will be said. We have way too much fun together and I am so thankful that my friend Liz has included all of us in her wedding.

The bachelorette party was in Nashville, TN! It was my first time there and I loved every bit of it! Except the weather, it was rainy and cold. But all nine of us were coming from out of town so the MOH had done a lot of extra planning to make sure we could still make Liz’s lingerie shower feel special with small details!

Some of the girls flew in, and a few of us drove up from different parts of Alabama. Our car was completely packed with luggage, gifts, party decor and champagne. I brought the champagne glasses and drink dispenser so I had to make them extra special!

Oh what fun! We laughed so hard, we cried! With such great company, we didn’t need any cute “stuff” to make this a party but the tags were inexpensive and easy to do. I love little details like this for parties and showers.

Orange Baby Shower Inspiration

I received a custom Etsy order last week for etched mason jars. The special part about this order was that the jars were for a baby shower! The buyer told me the theme was orange, and the baby’s gender is a surprise (I could never do that)! She wanted the mason jars to have custom etching on them for hostess favors…

“Mama”

and

“Grandma”

I loved this! The only negative side of this customization is the smaller the font, the harder it is to etch! With longer words the etching will be very subtle. I let the buyer know this and I offered to add custom tags, to ensure the glasses were still special! They came out SO cute! I love the orange theme for a gender-neutral baby shower!

Glass is more difficult to photograph so I didn’t emphasize the etched parts.

I printed the free baby shower invitation below from On To Baby (a sister site of Wedding Chicks). They offer so many cute printable designs & color combinations!

Note: I used “Tiffany Blue” and “Peach Blossom” for my color combo. But I think that “Mango” would have been a better choice than “Peach Blossom”, for a much deeper orange.

Now that this fun order is headed to Austin, TX, I am ready for more inspiration!

Will You Be My Bridesmaid Box

Guilty! I have totally posted this project before. I still use Andrew’s old digital camera, but I have slightly improved my photography skills (next big investment: new camera)! Anyways, I wanted to take new photos because this project was so fun and special for me I really wanted a decent post to show it off! I cannot wait to share our special day with my closest friends. They are the most fabulous women! Sincere, funny, kind, wild, honest and most of all, unique.

I used beautiful stationary cards from Rifle Paper Company and wooden jewelry boxes from Hobby Lobby.

Could those names (and colors) be more fitting for our May 18th, Rosemary Beach wedding?

I filled the wooden box with sand, shells, scented bath salts and a drop of glitter!

DIY Prints

Well, another weekend has come and gone. Although I worked this weekend, I was happy to have Friday off! I am so overly excited that I will have my first home office/craft room come May! I offered Andrew the garage… so I think that’s a fair trade, right? I know I want a clean space with a beautiful white Parsons desk. I hope to have all of my craft supplies conveniently stored in the closet (I’m a dreamer). I want to order a few inspirational prints from Lara Casey’s shop (shown in my last post) but also wanted some DIY prints. What I love about framed prints is that you can easily store them in a folder and switch them out, depending on season or mood.

For Valentine’s Day, I used my Cricut to create a die cut print that said “KISS” and “XO”. They were so easy and fun! I didn’t need to use Cricut Craft Room but if you did it would look something like this:

I used my “Plantin Schoolbook” cartridge and font size 3 to get the letters (“LOVE”) large enough for a 8.5 x 11 cardstock. For “KISS” I used size 5 1/2 because it was on 12 x 12 cardstock.

You could use your die cut letters inverted, too.

The next print I created was not very original, but it was easy and fun! I have seen so much inspiration for a painting like this on Pinterest & was happy to finally have some time to try it out! I can’t wait to do it again in the colors that I want my home office to have!

What do you think? I love how simple this painting technique is! It is great for anyone who uses color for inspiration! Just a few brush strokes will give you an idea of what color palette might (or might not) work for your next project! I will definitely be doing this again!
